Relocation to the Boro’ and a renaming ceremony

Well, hardly a ceremony really, not even a small drinks party or house warming. I have never really been keen on the term 'man cave' for my games room. If it was in a basement/cellar then maybe but...

When planning the building work to the Middlesbrough property including a big games room for me was a deal breaker, and in some respect the house extension was built as an add-on to my new room rather than the other way round. Well, as readers will know all the work has been completed and although I'm still waiting for the joiner to fetch up and extend my table I'm all ready to go.

So, its not a 'man cave' so what is it? Well, with due deference to the town I now live in, my games room will henceforth be referred to as "The Burrow".  Later this week I will post a guided tour of "The Burrow", i.e. I just need to tidy a few things away before I can allow any viewings.

Game planned for next Wednesday, and again on Bank Holiday Monday. The "official" inaugural game will be later in May or June, but both are busy months.

  1. Looking forward to the tour! Perhaps however since you you are now residing in your "Middlesbrough property" you should upgrade from a mere burrow to a Wargames Salon? This being an architectural space in a home, a gathering or an exhibition space. πŸ˜‰

  3. Maybe you could have a naming contest for the room.

  4. When I saw the title I thought you were going to rename your blog int some thing maybe a little more relevant, such as "Carrings on in the Smog", or similar. I think the significnce of "the Burrow's" name will be lost on a lot f folk (particularly the Southerners).
    Looking forward to the tour

    1. Joe, I can't possibly consider pandering to the needs of Southern folk and I wouldn't dream of changing the name of the blog after eight years, so Carryings on up the Dale it'll remain.

  5. Looking at that pic, I believe you should have real worries about the safety of that place, looks structurally unsound to me. :)

    1. cheers John. Funnily enough I had one for lunch today. I know that normally the measure of a good night out here is if you wake up in the morning with Parmo on your face but it was good.

  7. Sounds quite Tolkien. Should we be worried that the Sackville Baggins will come for the family silver?

  9. Well, as a southerner to me "Burrow", as written, sounds very southern. How do they pronounce it up there "burra"? Can't wait for the tour, to see your space, soldiers and paintings. Glad it's shaping up well. Chris
