Just to prove I am not dead and can still wield a brush/paint pen.....
What we have here is a generic Spanish regiment of horse. Their uniform is conjectural (ie made up) but I think lilac with red facings, grey hats and buff boots looks very striking, er ... pretty. Apart from the horses these figures were completed using paint pens which was both a challenge (the points are not exactly 'fine' but manageable, and a delight once finished in all their lilac-ness! The minis are from the wonderful North Star1672 range; 28mm of course. Flag by Maverick Models iirc.
(NB: They have neither muskets nor scabbards as in the intervening years since buying the figures I seem to have misplaced them. Who cares?)

Well, Colin, you didn't look particularly dead at the VWC meeting on Saturday. And you still paint better than I do.
ReplyDeleteLovely regiment of Dons you have there.

A nice addition from a great range of figures. My Spanish for this period currently consists of two figures! They do look pretty though.

ReplyDeleteA very smart looking unit of horse, thanks for sharing Colin.
DeleteExcellent unit Colin.
ReplyDeleteGot to see paintbrush/pen wet again.
Thanks Mark. Is that a euphemism
Deletemaybe...
DeleteNice looking unit
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you wielding brush and pen again to good effect! No sabre or muskets you say? Perhaps their horse give the enemy a nasty bite?
ReplyDeleteA lovely looking unit of Horse, Colin.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely striking. Your choice of colours is perfect (I have a picture of an historic unit, El Morados Viejos, that looks like this. They were a unit of foot, so you have done the equivalent unit of horse!).
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
