Battleground setup

Katherine, the chief Logistician  at Carryingsonupthedale  started loading our car so we could set the game up this evening. It will allow us a short lie in tomorrow and take the pressure off in the morning. Would it fit? WhyAye!

There was actually room to spare! Give the wife a medal!

We arrived about 4.30 and after half an hour wait for the tables to be set up (Leon was let down by the table man) during which we unloaded the car and created a large mountain of little men in the sports hall.

My brainwave of the month was the acquisition of some surplus carpet underlay to put under the Tiny Mats cloth. It meant that the bumps and joins seen when playing on a bunch of catering tables were absorbed by the underlay and were nowhere to be seen.

Here are some pictures of the game with all the figures deployed ready to commence hostilities tomorrow. I'd misplaced the map so had to busk it when i laid out the terrain, but when I got home I was pretty impressed that I was almost 100% correct.

A filling tasty supper, a gin and tonic or two and it'll be time for bed. Roll on tomorrow. The table looked great and I am pleased with the way it looks. Hope the game goes as well as the setting up.

  1. Looks absolutely fantastic. From memory, don't we see the English/Irish brigade at Seneffe (I may be wrong)- a certain John Churchill, Monmouth, the Hamiltons etc. ...and Mr. Ginkel of Aughrim fame there too I think.

    1. Thanks. Ginkel was there but the English under Monmouth were involved in the siege of Maastricht at the time this battle was fought and the famous d'Artagnon got in the way of a musket ball. I have Dumbartons Regiment in the French army but only because I have them.

  4. That’s a grand looking game! I recognise some features from our WI extravaganza. The banner is very swish!

  6. That all looks rather fine, a treat indeed for the visitors, permission to shout bravo! In an annoyingly loud voice. Have a great day.

  8. Fantastic looking table and hope you have a great show. Really looking forward to hearing how the day went. It's a show I'd love to attend but too much of a trip from sunny Bristol:(
