RIP My Wargaming Cat Esme 😒😰😰πŸ˜₯

Everyone who’s visited the Burrow over the last couple of years will have encountered Esmerelda our little wargaming cat. She was the friendliest and most chilled cat I’ve ever known with a wonderful temperament. We nipped out for half an hour today and when we returned she was laying in the middle of the road outside our house, obviously clipped by a car and killed.

She loved being in my games room especially when we were playing a wargame, often taking a greater interest in the proceedings than one might have expected from a cat. She gave us great joy and as a rescue cat (from Romania) she settled down among the puppies and other cats remarkably well.
She will be missed very much..😒

Thanks

  4. It's one of the risks with cats unfortunately .... We have lost a couple that way and I am always slightly nervous if the current one doesn't appear first thing in the morning....so far, she has always turned up, thankfully!

  6. That is terrible to hear Colin. As somene who has come to like cats only later in life (thanks to an education from my daughter) I have always enjoyed seeing Esme in your posts.

  7. Having not really gotten over the loss of a beloved companion (a dog in this case who passed in an untimely fashion, although it was due to illness and not accident), I can commiserate with the awfulness of what you must be going through. My condolences.

  15. I know your sadness Colin. When a pet bonds with us its loss is very keen. Time, and another animal friend is the best medicine. I am truly sorry for Esme going.

  17. Have one of similar colour. White hair everywhere? I curse but would miss it.

  18. A gregarious cat, who likes company, whilst demanding little from it. I once lived with a cat like that. That was nearly 40 years ago. One feels for your loss...

  19. You know of my love of cats Colin, and unfortunately like you I lost one in very similar circumstances last year. Being a softie it hit me really hard. Its easy to give advice so I wont, all I can say is I totally understand.
