A little bit of indulgence.

I had the opportunity to buy this sumptuous book at a discounted price the other week so thought, why not? As the title suggests it covers the work of artist Pieter Snayers between 1592-1667. I have to be honest and say I'd never heard of him until then but I was familiar with some of his work (even though the connection wasn't made). The book is bursting with superb and stunning contemporary artwork. There is also a comprehensive commentary covering the sieges and battles which are the subject of the artist's work. If I had a coffee table this would take pride of place. Below are some examples of the illustrations.

  1. Colin. It is a wonderful book - I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I am very jealous though if you managed to get it at a discount price. I paid full with shipping to Australia. Still very worth it though.

    1. Hi Richard. It’s great isn’t it. With the heat you’ve got down there take care it doesn’t spontaneously combust!
