Catherine the Great

I saw this link posted on the Wars of Louis Quatorze blog. The show stars Helen Mirren so what more is there to say? It looks promising. It’s a four-part HBO production so even better and will be on Sky Atlantic later this year. Trailer from YouTube.....

And by way of a reminder that balance is required in all things, here’s a link to a song/music video I posted on my blog earlier this year, also about Catherine the Great.

Time to dust off my SYW Russians in time for the show.

  1. I noticed this too somewhere online a few days ago, and I had the thought that either Minden-Fife&Drum, or Crann Tara ought to have a mounted Catherine in its range. The photo of Helen Mirren above would be a terrific model from which to develop a green and eventual casting.

    Best Regards,

  2. Maybe one of the civilian ladies riding a horse would be a suitable Minden figure. Somewhere I've seen a Catherine 28mm figure that shows her in her more plump stage of her life.

  3. I seem to recall from a zillion years ago a TV show about Catherine the Great that starred Catherine Zeta-Jones in the eponymous role. I don't remember much about it now, but seem to recall that I enjoyed it at the time.
